The modern raku technique arises from ancient Japanese methods of exposing clay to rapid low-fire temperature changes. Raku pottery is admired for the glimmering range of metallic colors generated by the oxidation when kiln-fired. Measuring 18 square, the handsome beveled mirror is framed by 20 individual raku-fired tiles with a hatched herringbone design, adding subtle color and texture to any decor.
